A FAMILY in North Sumatra, Indonesia, suffers from an unusual illness that causes them to alter the shape. Four of the Manurung family’s six children have an unknown and incredibly unique face disorder. Suyra stated to Truly: “The fact is that our physical appearances have altered through time, but we accept this and simply live with it. Growing up with this problem, in my opinion, made me feel inferior. But, at the moment, I don’t feel like that.” Despite the fact that many people thought the family should be shunned, they realized their disease was hereditary because their father is also affected. The family has yet to see a specialist for a diagnosis, and they have had to learn accustomed to others reacting negatively to their appearance due to their unusual appearance.
