Shimels Abdisa, the head of administration for the Oromia region, explained that we switched from importing wheat to exporting because we carefully planned and made the most of our available resources.
“Our journey to prosperity will be successful when we can free our economy from foreign support and lower revenue by substituting native products,” Ato Shimelis said in an article that was shared on his social networking page.
They said he’s been working on a scheme to make this happen.
He said that the government has previously spent billions of dollars importing wheat, harming the economy of the nation by diverting funds that could have been used for other projects.
