Meskel Celebration With Ethiopia Artists

Meskel, also referred to as the Ethiopian Meskel Celebration or Mesqel, holds significant religious importance in Ethiopia.

It serves as a commemoration of the discovery of the True Cross, believed to be the crucifixion cross of Jesus Christ, in accordance with Ethiopian Orthodox Christian tradition.

This festive occasion takes place on September 27th in the Gregorian calendar, corresponding to Meskerem 17th in the Ethiopian calendar. It’s essential to bear in mind that the Ethiopian calendar lags behind the Gregorian calendar by approximately seven to eight years, causing the date to fluctuate slightly from year to year.
